近期最火的人工智能語言模型－Chatgpt到底是什麼?用它來學習英文，但Chatgpt可行嗎?

這篇我會說明Chatgpt是什麼?怎麼使用?如何用它學英文和練習托福，最後有彩蛋，原來遇到這類型的題目，Chatgpt不會回答。

Chatgpt是什麼？

Chatgpt是一款仿真人的聊天生成器，不只可以用於進行多種寫作，像是劇本、歌曲、企劃、音樂、電視劇、學生論文等創作，也可以利用它來做聊天機器人唷！

Chatgpt甚至還有支援多種語法，除了人類語言之外，也有程式語言的功能，所以用它來撰寫程式也可以。

Chatgpt怎麼使用？

Chatgpt的用法也超簡單，你可以直接下達指令，告訴Chatgpt你希望它做什麼。

比如說你想請他撰寫一篇文章，只要列出文章大綱的幾個關鍵字，Chatgpt就會自動幫你完成一篇文章囉！

不過呢，你也不可以完全依賴Chatgpt，雖然它已經非常人性化，但寫出來的文章還是有一點像維基百科的內容。

如果你希望文章展現個人特色，或者吸引人的注意，最多只能夠將Chatgpt的文章作為底稿，然後自己還是要重新潤稿一次。

Chatgpt的功能

自動生成文字

輸入幾個關鍵字，Chatgpt就會自動生成段落文字。

自動問答

你可以詢問Chatgpt一些問題，請它給你建議，或者搜尋網上有用的資訊。（你可以參考我的實際測試：詢問Chatgpt如何用英文聊天

自動聊天

你可以利用這個功能來學習新的語言，它跟Siri有點像，你可以透過問答來跟他聊天，練習新的語言。

注意，Chatgpt是沒有情緒的AI，所以如果你問她關於情緒相關的問題，像是How’s your day?它會回答你說自己沒有情緒，但是謝謝詢問。

自動寫文章

如果你是行銷企劃/小編/行銷人員等等，可以將想法記錄在google note裡面，然後再透過Zapier做串聯，Chatgpt就會自動幫你生成一篇文章。

Chatgpt的使用小技巧

實際使用過Chatgpt之後，我發現它雖然已經非常人性化，但還是沒有完全脫離機器模式。

你如果希望它完全符合你的期待，下達的指令跟關鍵字要非常清楚和精準。

你可以把Chatgpt想像成一個剛進入職場的新鮮人~

有多年職場經驗的老鳥，你可能只要說一，他可能會自動想到二、三…，不用告訴他需要怎麼做、做什麼，他自己就會去找方法達成目標。

但職場新鮮人就像是一張白紙，因為還在學習的階段，缺乏實務經驗，所以他只會按照你所說得去做。

如果你的指令下達的不夠精準，可能他做出來的成果就不會符合你的期待。

Chatgpt也是一樣，如果不希望來來回回太多次，以下有2個使用上的小技巧：

指令要明確

比如說你希望Chatgpt撰寫一篇文章，如果你的指令只是：請幫我寫一篇關於托福的文章，那他可能會寫出一篇像維基百科一樣的內容。

因此你除了下達任務之外，還要說明更多細節，比如說：

請幫我寫一篇關於托福的文章

內容包含：托福是什麼？托福考試規則、托福怎麼報名？托福考試時間、托福費用、托福的分數標準、托福成績多久出來、各大學的托福成績要求等等。

這樣它才會幫你寫出一篇符合人類邏輯、讀者會有興趣的文章。

用詞跟關鍵字精準

因為Chatgpt仍然是機器人的思考模式，所以詢問問題時，你的用詞和關鍵字使用一定要非常精準。

比如說你希望寫一封請假信給教授，那你的用字一定要精準，如果你只是寫：write a time-off request email.

系統會預設為職場請假信，所以你需要寫：write an email to tell a professor I will be absent.

如何用Chatgpt學英文？

如果要用Chatgpt學英文，可以用以下3個方式：代寫書信、代寫文章/論文、詢問英文情境/對話建議。

代寫書信

最實用的方式就是請Chatgpt撰寫各種書信，像是請假信、辭職信、請求推薦信等，這些我們不擅長的書信內容，都可以請Chatgpt幫忙完成。

代寫文章/論文

Chatgpt有很強的大數據，如果你希望撰寫一篇論文跟文章，只要輸入你希望文章包含的關鍵字，它就會自動生成一篇文章。

我實際測試請它撰寫托福的寫作答案，它也可以寫出一篇有邏輯的文章唷！

詢問英文情境/對話建議

比如說你是一個很不擅長聊天的人，也可以透過Chatgpt來詢問意見，像是如何邀約對方出去？如果對方說…..，我該怎麼回答?

這類型的回答可以回應對方的感情，並且表達你的感受。

這種回答通常是看情境，比如說假設你跟教授預約時間討論一個想法，他當下就答應說：可以呀，我很開心能跟你對談。

從Chatgpt的回答可以感覺出它真的蠻聰明的，在我沒有給它上下文情境的狀況，它就把可能出現的情境都想到，然後列出對應的回答。

1. 現代的師生之間用 I am writing to inform，這種表達有點太正式/冷冰冰，像收到銀行貨政府服務機構的信件，給老師寫的話，可以說：

“I want to reach out to you to let you know that I will be absent from your class on [Date(s)].”

2. 關於補交作業的部分（If there are any assignments or tasks that I need to complete during my absence, please let me know and I will make sure to complete them before my return.）。

文字感覺非常敷衍，顯得沒有學習的主動性。

Chatgpt的寫法會讓教授感覺是：今天你是缺席的人，但我卻要額外寫通知你，你需要繳交什麼作業？

需要繳交什麼作業，其實教授通常會發郵件，或者在課程的handbook裡都寫得很明白。

照Chatgpt的寫法反而會讓教授覺得，你好像不是很在乎這堂課，一開始沒有看清楚課程的handbook就選課嗎？作業這麼重要的信件都沒放在心上嗎？

因此你可以改為這樣的寫法：

“I plan to review the lecture recordings and complete the assigned readings during my absence so that I am up-to-date with the class material when I return.”

這樣可以表達自己在缺席期間學習計劃和計劃完成的事項，讓教授知道即使你因為不得已了理由而請假，也不會荒廢學業，展現自己主動積極性，以及責任感。

即使因為特殊理由無法按時完成作， 教授也會覺得你是一個非常用心的學生，願意給你寬限時間喔！ 

3. 最後可以用Thank you for your time and attention 結束郵件，來表達對教授願意花時間讀完這一封郵件的感謝。

溫馨提示：

同學千萬不要小看簡單的一封請假信，其實老闆/教授觀察你就是從這邊開始，如果能好好地看待，這也會是一個很好瘩自我行銷機會。

請假本來可能是一件容易被扣印象分的事情，即使是因為緊急狀況而不得不請假，但實質來說，還是可能會造成組織工作進度拖慢、教授感覺不被尊重(畢竟教授準備很多內容才來上課)。

專業英文老師評論

Chatgpt寫的這篇辭職信，內容還OK，但 比較適合在銀行或者大公司大機構上班的人使用~

因為內容比較機械化且不帶情感，事情交代的比較全面，適合比較嚴謹的工作。

但如果是你平常和上司關係不錯的話，這樣的寫法會感覺很有距離，缺乏溫度。

比方開頭的地方用（I am writing to inform you that）感覺有一些冰冷，好像是在告知對方什麼事情，而對方只能接受，沒有選擇權利（即使離職時，公司的確無法強留你，但還是會讓人感覺不太被尊重）。

離職就和分手一樣，如果對方只是淡淡跟你說一句：我寫這封信是要通知你，我要和你分手。

你的內心會有什麼想法呢？是不是覺得不被重視了呢？

所以可以換成：

“It is with mixed emotions that I submit my resignation from my position as [Job Title] at [Company Name].”

這樣的寫法可以表達你的情緒與感受，畢竟曾經是一起奮戰的團體與夥伴，用It is with mixed emotions that…..做開頭，至少會讓人覺得你是有將自己當作是組織的一份子。

就像我一開始說的，離職就跟分手一樣，每個人都曾經認真投入過這段感情，所以分手時說，我忍痛的和你說分手，多多少少會讓對方感覺自己是被在乎的。

第二段裡面有關找到的新職位，也可以稍微說：

“I have accepted a position as [Job Title] at [New Company Name], where I will be able to further develop my skills in [specific area].”

用這樣的寫法的話，說不定現公司看到了會給你更好的offer喔!

就像我前一段說的，很多看起來簡單的信件，其實都是一次自我行銷的機會，在職場上人脈就是機會，有不少好的工作機會往往都是從身邊的弱連結－包含你的前同事、主管、教授、聚會認識的朋友等等介紹。

果然Chatgpt沒有讓我失望，她回覆說：對方沒有把自己當成戀愛對象。

甚至還會給建議說：如果你希望跟對她有進一步發展，可能會需要把自己的感受告訴對方。

同時要有心理準備，對方可能沒有進一步發展的意思，並尊重對方的感受。

整體來講結構寫得很棒，只是說body paragraphs還可以再更細節具體一點，例如說有具體的人事時地物寫出來，才可以達到托福寫作“use clearly appropriate explanations, examplifications, and/or details”的評分標準。

1. 第一段寫到： it is important to highlight both the struggles and the successes…..

根據托福的官方指導 (托福OG, TOEFL Official Guide)，雖然沒有要求題目問”agree or disagree” 一定要選邊站（寫agree或是disagree）。

但是如果覺得兩個意見都同意，像這篇Chatgpt範文的做法，托福官方指引裡的舉例有說 ”depends on different situations (I consider lying appropriate in these situations and inappropriate in those situations.) “。

也就是說立場句比較不建議寫”兩個都同意”，但是可以寫“視認同的哪些特定情況，我會有不同想法”。

2. 第二段的：For example, showcasing the success stories of people who have managed to lift themselves out of poverty can be inspiring and can help to change people’s attitudes towards those experiencing poverty. Chatgpt這個舉例有點偏題~

開始我們先來解析題目，這樣你可能比較容易理解為什麼Chatgpt的舉例偏題。

這道題目其實有２個重點：

“促使社會幫助那些經歷貧困的人的最佳方式不是展示窮人的艱辛和苦難(the best way to prompt society to help those experiencing poverty is to showcase not the hardships and sufferings of the poor)”。

“展現過去人們致力於終結貧窮的努力 (the meaningful contributions in the past towards ending poverty)”。

如果你翻譯成白話文就是，你覺得促進社會進步是應該要展示窮人的艱辛和苦難？還是展現過去人們致力於終結貧窮的努力？

請注意，這是２種作法，沒有所謂的對與錯，只是不同的策略。

比如說新聞可能會報導貧窮國家小孩可能因為戰爭、飢餓而承受著痛苦，讓社會大眾因為想要消除痛苦而採取行動，屬於”展現貧窮和痛苦”策略。

又比如說基金會幫助失業者找到工作、政府提供失業者職涯課程，讓他們成功回到職場的成功案例，讓社會大眾因為看到希望而採取行動，這是屬於”展現過去人們終結貧窮的努力”策略。

兩者只是社會採取結束貧窮的手段/措施/工具不同，就本身而言並不一定就是正面/積極，或是負面/消極。

但Chatgpt將showcase the hardships and sufferings of the poor視為負面/消極的”the negative”。

將lift themselves out of poverty視為正面/積極的態度。

然後說：For example, showcasing the success stories of people who have managed to lift themselves out of poverty can be inspiring and can help to change people’s attitudes towards those experiencing poverty. 溫馨提示：

在這邊要建議同學，像我一開始說的，雖然托福並沒有規定一定要表達立場，但要寫出完全中立的文章，需要邏輯非常清楚。

否則很容易就會像Chatgpt一樣出現偏題的情況，所以如果你希望展現自己的人格特質，可以在之後的論文或其他文章來這麼做，對於托福這種有批改標準的考試，就盡量走保守路線，不要找自己的麻煩唷!

當我利用托福寫作的獨立題型-個人意見題詢問它的立場時，Chatgpt回答說：身為一個人工智能語言模型，我沒有個人的立場。

如果你希望利用Chatgpt來練習口說第一題跟寫作第二題，這類型的題目你的問法就要有些技巧，像是：

“Can you write me a 100-word script to answer the following prompt:
Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Grandparents cannot give good advice to their grandkids because things are very different nowadays from what they were in the past.”

整體而言，Chatgpt雖然有些地方太過制式化，而且不夠有人情味，但用於論文、托福寫作／口說練習、大學報告還OK。

但如果想要拿來做各種日常信件、劇本和詩詞、聊天等用途，可能比較適合用Chatgpt作內容的底稿，讓你可以不用花太多時間來打草稿，只需要根據他的範本作一些態度、語氣、文法上面的修改。

可以避免各種燒腦的過程，節省更多的時間喔!
